Welsh Gold

 The welsh gold which is used in all CYM products comes from the last remaining stocks of gold which was mined from the Gwynfynydd Mine in Dolgellau or from panning the river and streams of Snowdonia.

Nigel Blayney who owns CYM has traced his ancestral roots and found that the Blayney family of Gregynog were direct descendants of the Celtic war chief, Brochwel Ysgythrog, Prince of Powys and the family still bears his crest today

Sadly the last producing welsh gold mine was closed in 1999, so it makes the remaining stocks of welsh gold even more precious and rare.

There has always been a connection between the royal family and welsh gold . When the Gwynfynydd mine was under the control of Sir mark Weinberg enough gold was mined to present the queen with a kilo bar of pure welsh gold to be used in her family’s wedding rings. The latest of these were the ones made for Prince Edward to Sophie Rees-Jones.
